This is our September 2024 single release, hot on the heels of the rather marvellous Kingflame remix.
For when mistaken identity breaks the walls of your life. THE WRONG GUY. We’re all just an innocent face and a minor misunderstanding away from communal showers and hard toilet paper.
We make Art. With a capital letter. But sometimes we have to swerve too close to reality to say what we need to say, and that day under the beating San Diego sunshine, security got the wrong guy and lofted them to the wind. They were innocent until the moment they hit the pavement.
We loved remixing this song with Kingflame, but now we’re back to basics baby. This is the unadulterated, pure product.
One day THE WRONG GUY will be free. They will feel the breeze on their face and drink raw tequila in the shade of heavy construction equipment. We hope they enjoy the song we made for them. It was, after all, just a misunderstanding.

@rockeramag said “the subsequent chaos that results. Simple but powerful”
“reminds one of early The Clash compositions. Especially in the grim undertones that dominate the song, there is also a subdued allusion to the post-punk sounds of Joy Division.”
@jpgchief said “this may well be their finest creation yet.”
“pristine production, along with vocals and lyrics that are pure fire.”
@musicearshot “a tale filled with disorder, comedy, and incisive societal critiques.”
“pushing limits by blending punk, rock, and funk to produce a sound that is both reminiscent of the past and innovatively current”
@york_calling “The “de-mixed” version gives us a stripped-back intro before big bass and keys hit.”
“proving once again that the idea of genre can’t keep their Leicester-based innovators confined.”
@fvmusicblog “addictive”
“Fuelled by driving beats, charismatic performances and thought-provoking lyrics”
@iggymagazine “imposes itself with its effervescent rhythm and technical flow.”
“impactful verses that mix vocal power and irresistible groove.”
@mangowave said "Somewhere between the energy of The Gastronaut and the erotics of Mickey Humpper, the nasty trio from Leicester has created another banger. 9 o’clock nasty may predominantly be famous for their Garage Rock, Post Punk and New Indie music, but this is some serious 80s style Rap sound."
@musicforallmag said “Many will remember Beastie Boys and Cypress Hill, but 9 o'clock Nasty stands out for its strong identity, so points for them, who still deliver a well-thought-out clip, simple in its take, but intelligent in the improvisations”
“considerable work, and always with a bittersweet tone, encompassing various styles. They come from the English city of Leicester, the largest in the East Midlands region, which has a total of around 330 thousand inhabitants”
@musicaenpalabras_ said “a mixture of irony and social criticism that, with its distinctive style, manages to capture the listener from the first second.”
“the rhythms are agile and the guitars set a vibrant tone, with a groove that slides through the song”
@thisisapolloharp said “there’s that ever present deviance and depravity that the band is known for. Only it pops up in the most unexpected way.”
“funk whimsy takes on new levels of creativity in latest track, ‘The Wrong Guy’. A dynamic drive that sports catchy verse loops and vocal charisma.“
@sinusoidal.music said “This is your pub icebreaker, your bill inflator, and all you need for the greatest evening”
“the thumping beat your floorboards want to absorb. A soft piano melody runs in the background, your backyard stomp for the Beastie Boys like delivery they’re going to give. It’s fitting that all 3 of them are involved, adding to the chaotic chorus that would be your running anthem. Percussion is king for this song, and you’re in for a hip-hop treat that takes you the distance.”
@lacavernamx said “enjoy two and a half minutes of pure energy. 9 o'clock Nasty manages to capture the essence of confusion and chaos with its characteristic irreverent touch.”
“we are all a misunderstanding away from ending up in unexpected situations. With a raw and direct sound, the band returns to its roots”
@indieoclock said “a delicious mix of punk, hip-hop and alternative pop, a song that adds styles and shows that the group knows how to create good songs in any musical genre”
“Another authentic song, full of attitude and incredible, of the one that for us is one of the best bands in the world of contemporary alternative rock, and what a great hit this delicious Punk rap.”
@musicistoblame said “electrifying punk rock trio that defies genre boundaries”
“skilfully fusing punk and hip-hop, the band shows us how two contrasting genres can come together, push boundaries and create a unique, electrifying listening experience.”
@allenpetersonreviews said “Known for their blend of punk, funk, and sarcasm, the trio steps into new territory with a head-bopping hip-hop beat that still carries their signature cheeky edge.”
““The Wrong Guy” suggests that there is strength in letting go, embracing the unpredictability, and finding a way to move forward.”
